Hydropower is one of the most sustainable and economical way of generating power in Peru. Ossberger’s small turbines allow for the generation of hydroelectricity without the need to build large dams and reservoirs. Peru’s water bodies and mountainous terrain provide ideal conditions for the implementation of Ossberger’s turbines.
Market Leader in Small Hydropower
Since 1873, Ossberger has been concerned about the world's development and what can be done to make it a good one. From the earliest days, their focus had been on innovative and environmentally friendly technologies in the field of engineering. This has made Ossberger what it is today: a strong, modern and development-oriented family-owned company.

Extremely Simple, Fantastically Efficient
The patented OSSBERGER® Crossflow Turbine operates at heads from 2.5 up to 200 meters. It was developed specifically for small hydropower applications. Currently, it is available with outputs of up to 10 megawatts. Even at very low water flows it reliably supplies energy and copes excellently with fluctuating water volumes. This is achieved by two cells inside the turbine, which can operate independently of each other. The small unit only requires 5% of the design water volume to start the turbine.
Therefore, OSSBERGER® Crossflow Turbines operate almost all year round, even when other turbine types have long since stopped working.
Benefits of Micro Hydropower
- Generation method with the lowest cost per MWh
- Micro hydroelectric plants do not require reservoirs or interfere with the flow of rivers, so they are considered one of the most sustainable energy sources
- Decentralized micro hydroelectric plants (Off-grid)(<20 MW) can be the development engine for remote or isolated locations
